Pediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship Match
POSNA established a fellowship match starting in September 2009. This follows a more standardization of the match in 2008. This year POSNA will utilize the San Francisco Matching Program (SFMP) to administer the pediatric orthopedic fellowship match. SFMP website will electronically distribute the fellowship application through the Central Application Service (CAS). Applicants interested in applying to the Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship Match must register with SFMP and complete the CAS application. The application process begins in September 2009 and ends on December 31, 2009. All applications must be submitted to SFMP to distribute to fellowship programs. Applications sent directly to fellowship programs will not be accepted.
All North American based one year long Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship Programs are eligible to participate in the Match. All participating fellowships are listed on the SFMP website.
Fellowship Programs and Applicants will utilize the SFMP system to submit their application, receive applications and rank programs/applicants and receive Match results.
Applicants who wish to participate in the match must register directly with the SF Match.
The SF Match site can be viewed at www.sfmatch.org
The SF Match Central Application Service (CAS) can be accessed at the SF Match Site.
The 2009 POSNA Match Agreement may be viewed on the POSNA Website.
Both programs and Applicants commit to remain in the match program for the duration of the Match cycle. Please refer to the Agreement regarding specific penalties for Programs and Applicants.
It is particularly important that resident applicants, program directors and faculty, as well as residency directors and faculty fully understand the match process and policies.
The POSNA Fellowship Match Committee will be closely monitoring the application, interviewing, post-interview communication, and match processes. We will survey fellowship directors and applicants during the process.
Statement on Communication
The Fellowship Match Committee has been charged with overseeing the match process and has developed the following policy regarding communication between fellowship programs and applicants. The committee assumes that everyone involved will behave in a manner which strictly preserves the integrity of the match process. Fellowship directors or faculty are strictly forbidden from contacting applicants post-interview to in any way influence the applicant’s ranking decision.
